In April I had the pleasure of moderating Tedx Lund University. For those of you who could not make it and want to take part of the great talks presented at the event, take a look here.
When I heard Anders Wilhelmson of Peepoople talking about how his invention, a mobile toilet for the huge number of people without access to sanitary I cried. Not because it is a wonderful solution to one of our most basic needs but because of an unexpected side effect. The women in the slums of India and Bangladesh testified that after the peepoople toilet was introduced they no longer feared that they nor their daughter would get raped when having to perform their needs in the open, as was the case previously. The rape rate of young girls of the age of5+ years had dropped dramatically.
I cannot accept that girls who are younger than my own daughter risk to be raped simply because there is no decent sanitation. Absolutely unacceptable. Look at Anders WIlhelmsons TedXtalk and support his quest with Peepoople.
